Prodigal Son returns!

The Baconator has returned! I do not know what he was up to, but he returned, snuffling around my window, complaining about everything.

I do not know what that was about, but I sure am glad he is home. He has not yet eaten everything that got spilled in the garage, but he has eaten enough that he is just laying around moaning and groaning like when he ate the sixty pound pumpkin. God forbid you touch him, he makes a quiet howling sound like when I have eaten at the Pizza Hut buffet.

He cannot be in that bad of shape as he ran like hell when he saw me get on the lawnmower about 7:45 tonight.

If this does not make you smile, nothing will

It is no secret that Bocephus and Charlie love each other, but these photos prove it. Right after I mowed the yard for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I caught these two snuggled up under the big tree in the front yard.
Look at all that love. I swear, they were nose to nose all sleepy like.
And as soon as they saw me with the camera, they split apart a little. I think they may be ashamed of their love, for real.
Does that look like humiliation to you? Note his nekkid side--he is shedding, which requires rubbing up on the front porch. He rubs that hair out first, and eventually he will be totally nude.

I wonder what Charlie will think of that

More proof of my weird world

Look what happened at our house today. I think Bocephus was sunning, next to the garage---one of the few places with no snow, so he could lay down. Evidently Charlie thought that looked like an ideal place to rest too. When Barry first saw it, Charlie was asleep on Boce's back, upside down. By the time he got me out of the house with my camera, Boce was up and Charlie was awake.
I got a few shots before Charlie hopped down and came to see what all the laughing was about.

If these two are not the best pair ever, I cannot imagine what it would take to top them

Bocephus is a father

Only here do things like this happen. Bocephus went from having an orange cat as a pet--who disappeared--to having kitties. When I came out of the house Sunday morning, he was standing by my favorite plant--the contorted Filbert. He was oinking to beat the band, and the next thing I knew--little kitties were popping out all over. There were four of them--two orangey ones, a black one and one grayish tiger striped thing. The popped out one at a time and hid in the garage.

This little orangey one was the bravest--I got set up to take pics and watched her terrorize Boce. Mama cat showed up, and from the looks of her, I can only conclude that Boce's cat friend was not his girlfriend at all, but rather his boyfriend. And he must have cheated on him, as that must be how this lady ended up with kitties.
Isn't the baby darling?
Looks can be deceiving though--here is short stuff hissing at Boce a minute later. I do not know what he was so mad about, but he was making himself very clear. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

This might explain why Boce has been stockpiling more things in his resting place. He likes to collect items for his bed, and it seems like there has been a lot more stuff there lately. Some of it started getting out under the garage door and I have told Boce that if he does not clean his room, I will do it for him, and throw it all away. When I will get around to that, I do not know. Now I wonder if he was making the bed better for mama and her babies.

When I came back later, we saw a teeny little puffy streak running across the pasture--and Boce came running from the pasture to the house to greet us. I think he was moving his family away from me. I have not seen the kitties since. Tonight, I found that Boce has moved back into the mattress--his winter digs--so I am wondering if he has kitties in there.

Only my pig could be a dad. To some cats. But leave it to someone in this family to be picking up someone else's slack. I bet we never see orange daddy again--he is surely off cavorting leaving Boce to do his work. He looked pretty happy about it though--and it gives him something to do with his time.

Day in the life of the Baconator

This is how I have been finding Bocephus when I leave for work in the mornings--asleep under a little tree in the front yard. He has ears like a bat though, so when he hears the door open, he gets up and comes running for his morning greeting from me. Not today. He was sleeping so hard, I could hear him snoring on the porch.

I got close enough to take pics that the clicking of the camera woke him up. This is him giving me the evil eye. I do not know what a peeg does all day that he needs to rest this much.

After I gave up taking pics and got in the truck, he woke up more and sat up on his hiney. I do not see this very often--I do not think it is normal pig positioning. He looked very content to me. Check out those wrinkles on his back legs--and thank God he is not a horse, or those jacked up legs would not serve him well. Poor knock-kneed pig
Sleepy peeg---his big ol yawns crack me up, especially now that he has those little tusks in there. He looks like he could do some damage to someone if he wanted to. He is a very peaceful peeg though, and has yet to use those tusks for evil. At least as far as I know.
About this time, Boce decided he needed to resume his resting.
That required going round and round in circles--three times--just like a dog. I have always thought that Boce thinks he is a dog, instead of a pig. This is just further evidence of it.
Check out that sweet tail. When we first got him as a teeny peegy, I was very disappointed that the screwy curly tail I expected was not reality. Instead, it is this ratty looking thing, with long hairs on the end. I am used to it though, especially because you can grab it sometimes and he will holler at you--which always cracks me up.
Down he went--exactly the way Simba lays down in the bed, face first. More dog like behavior.

This was the best picture ---never have I caught a picture of him rolling up on his back---. you should have heard him quietly squealing to himself as he got settled. He sounded like a baby. He was totally asleep by the time I was back in the truck to go to work.

I do not know what this peeg does all day, but it must wear him out. I know he has been raising that orange kitty--I saw him sharing his peeg food with her the other day. I assume she is a her kitty, but I do not know as I cannot get near it. Boce seems to be taking good care of her though. The rest of the day, he mostly rests, unless he is in the pasture playing with Sly, Twister and Fonz--which mostly means following them around to see if they have food. That rat terrier thing from next door comes over to play with him some too. He must be doing something that wears him out, as I have never seen such a tired piggy as I did this morning.

By popular demand--the Baconator

Bocephus is modeling his summer look here---his hair pretty much falls out in the summer time, so it looks like he has a halo of black fuzz following him around.

Dad stopped by today and we could not find Boce--I am sure he was in the pasture playing. Dad feels like Boce is under-represented on the blog, so here he is. All that socializing, plus taking care of his orange kitty that I finally saw for real in the garage, must have worn Boce out---while I talked on the phone in the pool, he wallered up under the red trailer to have a snooze in the shade. He is a happy peeg

Self soothing

Since we still have NO INFORMATION about the job, I am trying to soothe myself to keep from having a panic attack. That almost sounds dirty, doesn't it? For real, I am trying to stay out of the pizza, beer and ice cream, and so far so good. That is quite a feat though, since that is what I do when I am wigging out. I had a stuffed chicken breast for dinner that the Beast told me to eat and it was GOOD. Good enough I have not gotten off track at all since then.

I am trying to figure out what makes me comfortable, if it cannot be food. Being with the horses normally will do it, but by the time I got out of the gym, it was almost dark so I could not sit in a chair and look at my ponies to relax. Besides, they are kind of stressing me out their own selves, with all the financial commitment they require and that is the last thing I need to think about right now. That leaves me with my pets--they make me content, and sometimes laugh.

This picture I took as I left for work this morning. Which by the way, was day two back from illness and freakishly productive--that makes me feel good. I finished a petition for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court, an opening brief in a really weird case, a reply brief for a Chicago case and started a second reply brief for Chicago. That is a massive day. Anyway, as I left, I saw peeg having a little rest. Yeah, I know, I need to weed eat. Life is hard, I am just one woman. Some other day maybe. Doesn't he look like a happy peeg?

I got Tequila out of bed to leave when I did, and before I knew it, she had rooted Peeg out of his resting spot and laid down her own self. Acres to choose from, but she wanted his warm spot. That one does not stay awake for very long at a time at all, but could she look more peaceful than that?

I took this one from the car as I was leaving--she looks so sweet, if you ignore that wonky eye. Which I do, I almost forget it is there until I look at pics of her.

Right now, I have two sleeping puppies on the couch, and am watching television. And let me tell you, I love me some Real Housewives of New York City, but I hate that bitch Kelly on there. I should not watch her when I am trying to stay calm. She fires me right up, and that stupid Ramona is not a lot better. What a flake.

Uh oh. I feel my blood pressure going up. Maybe I should shut off all the media and cuddle up with my pups until I get some news about where our lives are going

No I am not kidding

I had a birthday party for Slater tonight. Yes, he is a dog. No, I do not care if you think I am insane.

Mostly, I did it for the funny photo opportunities, but all the same, I had a party for my dog. No one else could come, as there was a tragedy that interfered today. My parents's dog Nudie had to be put to sleep this afternoon, which of course put them in the non-celebratory mood. In fact, it put a damper on the festivities for everyone. It breaks my heart, because I know how horrible it feels to lose one, and because no one can fix it. It also makes me appreciate the time I have with my own dogs, even if it is silly time like this.
One of Slate's favorite things in the world is Dairy Queen, so Barry brought DQ for everyone last nite because he thought he would not be here tonight. When we put the dish in his food bowl, he put the whole thing in his mouth and took it to my recliner where he laid it down, I guess to rest until he wanted it. I had to get it and put it back two times, before it occurred to me to dump it out of the DQ dish and put it in his bowl like that. Duh. That is why we have leather furniture though.
Simba was very glad to see that she got ice cream too.
Tequila even got hers delivered to her room. She has clearly never had ice cream, which makes me sad. I know it is not good for them, but Slater loves it so much, he gets it some times. After we convinced Quila to try it, she loved it and gobbled it out of a bowl.
And what is a birthday without birthday cake? Since Barry got to be home tonight unexpectedly, we had to have the real party. That included party hats and cake. Simba is such a nice girl, taking her treat.
Slater gobbled so fast he ended up making such a big mess, that Simba ended up with most of it, eating it off the floor. And that is why we no longer have carpet in most of our house.
Barry refuses to take a decent picture--he looks completely squirrelly here. And really he is only half squirrely. Just the kind of doofus who will wear a party hat for his dog's birthday. Plus, I think Simba had her tongue stuck in his ear. She loves him.
Quila was not sure about the hat thing, but she wore it. This whole birthday thing confused her, but maybe that is because she does not have one. God willing, we will celebrate her Gotcha day this fall.
I cannot explain this.
All that partying wore Slate slap out. He pitched over in the floor by Barry's chair, rolled up on his back and went to sleep.

Even Boce got to get in on the party action. Well, he got a hat. Because that is just funny. Oddly, he minded the hat less than anyone. Since he has no neck, the elastic went in his mouth. I don't think he even noticed, he went to eating his dinner like it was not even there.

Now find me someone else who has a pig who wears birthday party hats. I knew I would find my niche in the blogging world eventually.

The smartest one

I have meant to post this forever, but kept having baby news interrupt. Now since I am too tired to do much else, I have a place for it. This is peeg in his mattress. See how he is down inside the mattress? And he has dragged the comforter there in there with him. You cannot imagine how long it took me to get him to come out and have his picture made. And once he did, he would not leave me alone of course.

Now that it is warming up, Bocephus has taken the comforter out of his mattress. He only spends nights in there now, and evidently does not need his comforter anymore. Either that, or Tequila took it to cuddle up with. Boce has been spending more time in his pigloo--I guess that is his summer home.

In other news, Barry made it home from his trip. He is feeling way better now that he is down at his regular level. He thinks he may have gotten so sick this time because the house they stayed in was also at a high elevation. Normally he stays with Shawn at his house, and it is lower down. He may spend all day on the mountain, but at night, he is at a lower altitude. He is still not hungry and he looks like he does not feel that good, and he seems to be really tired. He saw his ear surgeon today who offered little to no help other than saying, "yep, your eardrum is ruptured. Here is your bill." Thanks.

My first personal training went really well, I thought. I am already sore, and was a little shaky all afternoon, but that is how I like it. I have to log my food, which is a humiliating experience, and cut down on the amount of cardio I have been doing. Who would have thunk?

The welcoming crew

Today was a state holiday so I had the day to do stuff--which was mostly exercising and running errands, but whatever. When I got home from one of the runs, I got the big welcome from my peeg--tell me he is not cute standing there with a leaf on his nose. Such a nice peeg he is.

This is him running to me when he saw my car turn into the driveway. He looks like such a little wiggle here--and he is so not. But he loves his mama, and that is what matters most.

With such a welcome from the peeg, I expected some big doings when I actually got in the house. Did I get it? No. Tequila was sleeping away on the couch and was not about to get up just because I got home. That is kind of a kick in the head, isnt it?

She is gaining her weight back though, which is good-- I wanted to take her to the vet to weigh her today, but all that exercising got in the way of that. I also need to take Slater in soon, as he has decided his back hurts sometimes. He will occasionally holler if you touch his back in the wrong place, or he gets stuck in the chair. I am praying he just tweaked it playing or something but you never know.

On my next trip out, I was greeted with this sweet baby. Look at that shaggy coat, I love it. Baby wanted to see me, but mama was having none of it. It kind of made up for Tequila not loving me though, so that is something.

I have a big week ahead of me, so hopefully that will lead to some good blog fodder. I have been very boring lately, do not think I do not know this.

Pigloyevich? PICS ADDED

We have some interesting doings here at Rancho Insanio.

The Baconator has sprouted a peculiar shock of hair on his forehead over his eyebrows that Barry says makes him look like our fool ass governor, the much maligned and exceedingly stupid and corrupt Rod Blagoyevich.

It has happened in the last day or so, which I missed because I laid down to take a nap at 7 pm last nite, so that we could go to a late movie, and I woke up today. At 9:30 am. 14 and a half hours later. I do not know if there is a connection between my prolonged sleep/failure to attend Friday nite activities and the peculiar hair growth or if they are completely unrelated events, but Barry is right---Bocephus looks like Blago.

We are calling him Pigloyevich.
Look at that---it comes down between his eyes and is way bushier than some bangs ought to be. If he starts trying to sell things like Blagoyevich does, his ass is out of here

Gabi's first Christmas in the U.S.

It was a big hit. This is the first year she has been home, so it was a big deal for the whole family to be here for her Christmas. She asked for a bike for Christmas, which is her favorite thing in the whole world, so we got her that. She was beside herself with excitement when she saw it. That does not mean that she can reach the pedals--not even close.
See how far her feet are from the pedals? But she does not care--either someone pushes her, or she rocks back and forth like she does on her rocking horse to make it go. It is a hoot to watch her get it to go.
She also got a wagon, which was Mom and Dad's gift to her. It too was a big hit--she went on a ride around the neighborhood, but eventually got out and pulled it back herself. I missed that since I was sick in the bed all day, but I hear there are photos to prove that she pulled it home, all two feet of her. She wore her new red cowboy boots which are two sizes too big on her trip--she loves them too.
This is her Xmas dress. She posed in the backyard for her fancy pictures. This is the funniest one though, as she kept flapping her skirt.
This is Gabi's serious Christmas picture, sitting on the steps in the foyer of her house. Isn's she a good poser? It is a wonder she is not blind with all the flashes going off all day.

This is my attempt to not be so serious. I took this pic on the way out Tuesday nite--Bocephus was having a good laydown in his pigloo. I woke him up to say goodbye and he yawned for the picture. Typical. Still, he cracks me up, and I hate not being home at Christmas time to be with my animals. Even the stupid pig.

Hopefully, I will feel better enough tomorrow from this horrible cold to be more interesting. I have lots of new pics and stories to tell, but I have to take medicine every five minutes so that I can stay over medicated enough to get through this weekend, and that makes me too ignorant to make a coherent post.

Boce gets a reward

He has been a very good piggie lately and Halloween is over, so I have been giving him some of the Halloween decor for dinner. Last nite, he got a little pumpkin, so this was what I saw this morning on my way to work. Also, I wonder if something is wrong with his right eye? It looks like maybe it is closed up more than the other--which made me think he was getting too fat, but maybe he has something wrong with that eye. I will have to check that out when I get home tonight.
He has pumpkin all over his face. Even on his forehead. I am not sure I understand that as it was a little pumpkin he could not possibly get his whole head in, but there it is all the same.
He even had pumpkin on his EAR!

He is a very happy pig and thinks I am such a swell mom that I did not have to call him for his vitamin this morning--he came running the minute he heard the door open. He is getting a little beefy so I had the elevator order him some special pig food for a fat pig to not be so fat---I know that sounds ridiculous, but I want him to be healthy and it is not as easy as it looks!

I needed these happy pictures. My job is really wearing on me, I am under so much stress due to personality conflict that my I can literally feel my blood pressure go up when dealing with certain people here. I am grinding my teeth like mad in my sleep from the tension, my jaw aches from it, and I have had a tension headache for a month that sometimes hurts so bad it feels like there is acid on my eyeballs.

So distract me guys--I need something else to focus on besides how angry I am. Thank God it is Friday
