Bocephus loses his manhood

The little feller is at the vet this morning, getting fixed. In fact, it might be happening right this minute.

He was scared, I think, even though he had no idea what was going on. In anticipation of big things, he pooped in my new car and peed on the mail. Oy vey. When we got to the vet, he was very quiet and did not even scream when the vet tech took him from me and weighed him, which is not like him at all.

I can pick him up after 2 pm.

An embarrassing thing happened while we were there-- I mean worse than the pig crapping in my car. Mr. Rose, who was the dean of students of my high school when I was there, was in the waiting room with his vet. He was also kind of a neighbor of ours. For once, my first thought was not "Oh my God, how embarrassing, I bet he did not know how fat I am", but "Oh my God, now he knows I have a pig for a pet".

The things that go through my mind!

Boce will be fine! I cannot believe he ways 11 lbs - I figured like 6lbs - he's a small but mighty package...

Oh yes, he is chock full of something. Not shit, as he left that in the car. And maybe a few ounces less by now!

He is chunky, I was actually surprised he did not weigh more than taht- he is so dense, it feels like a lot of weight.

Poor baby, wonder what he is doing now? crying probably

oh Paige, you are so funny....worrying about someone who 1)does not pay your bills 2)live with you or 3)sign your paycheck. He probably thought the same thing I did....that's a cool pet!

You are so funny. How is he doing now?

At this exact minute, he is under the kitchen table. That is probably not that exciting to most people, but considering his condition when I picked him up, it is GREAT! When Kevin gave him back to me, laughing and telling me he was a good boy, he mentioned that he was having trouble regulating his body temp-- a common problem for piggles--so he hhad him on a warming bed. Boce had been sleeping all day. He wrapped him all up in a towel for me, put him on my lap and sent me home. By the time we got home, he was shivering all over, even though I turned off the A/C in the car (and it is 99 again today) and his little tum was cold to the touch.

I got him in the house and swaddled him up tight in a comforter until he finally stopped shivering. Then I was sure he was dead, so I opened it up enough to see his head and he started shivering again.

I decided to leave him alone so I would quit aggravating him and went out to jump in the pool. When I got back in an hour later, he had unfolded his blankeys and was wondering around oinking at things.

He is not allowed to eat tonight and that seems to make him angry, but he is still a little confuzzled.

And he has the cutest little red stitches in his little package!

have you ever had surgery? I didn't know it but when they operated on my ankle and I came out of surgery I was under about 6 blankets and still shivered. Something about the anesthesia de-regualates your ability to stay warm. I know that when Tori had her section, she shivered violently for about 2 hours. She had a LOT of trouble coming out from the anesthesia.

I hav probably had 1oo surgeries! Ok, That may be an exaggeration but there have been so many that even my mom probably cannot put a number to it. I have had so many that I was OLD before I realized that not everyone has surgery on Friday becuase it is Friday.

So I probably do nto have perspective on these things, I am an old pro. However, the older I got, the more trouble I had with anasthesia--I never did have trouble when I was really little.

I am holding him in his blankets right now watching Americas Most Wanted, and when he is asleep, he does not shiver. When he wakes up though he starts right in again.
Poor little nutless Boce!

So did they put him out to do the deed? Here they just cut them wide open like a colt and don't stitch them. I wonder if he is having a bad reaction to the anesthesia? Rojo can not have a normal dose or it will kill him, his breed is really sensitive and can only have 1/10th of the regular dose.

Yeah they put him out and while they did not use the recommended drugs, it was the next best thing--so that is what I am worried about----I think he is fine, but I am paranoid.

Seems like if he was really having a serious reaction, we would not have gotten this far. At least that is what I am telling myself

Take his temp and see where he is at. I don't know what is normal for a pig though...but the internet could be a way to find out. If he is not better tomorrow I would have him looked at. How do you do vital signs on a pig? Let me find some info. I will be back.

Another thing, has he pooped or peed since surgery? You know to make sure his systems are working.

Dave said the shaking could also be from pain maybe.

Boce is dong great this morning! Waddling a little funny, but otherwise swell. I guess that 13 hour nap we took overnite did wonders for him (me too!)
