The runner-up goes to training

Since Hawkeye's condition through a wrench into things, I had to take the second in line to the Secret Weapon to be started last nite. That is Radar. He could use some work, he is fat fat fat. He is a little timid, but is also very personable and easy to get along with, and obviously intelligent...he thinks through things rather than blindly reacting, a Sly trait that I love. All things going according to plan, I would have waited on him a couple of months, but the best laid plans .....blah blah blah

The first thing he did was load himself like he does it every day--he does not. He probably has not ever been loaded or if he has been, it was as a tiny baby with his mama, and I sincerely doubt that occurred since she was not bred back that year. When we arrived, he was tied so we could do something else, and it was not long before he moseyed out to see what we were doing--he had untied himself already. What a character.

Upon being retied, he lost a bit of his charm. I probably should not post these sorts of things, but what is the point of white washing everything in here? Horse are not perfect, no matter who raises them, so I am going to be honest in everything I post. Radar has been broke to tie since he was a couple of months old, and can stand for hours if he so chooses. Evidently if he does not so choose, he is not above acting like a fool in front of his new trainer, as evidenced by the photo. I think he did this twice, then decided to get with the program.

He did learn a couple of tricks before we even left...the most interesting being that it does not really matter if someone flings a rope at your hind legs and wraps them up--it probably won't kill you. A good skill!

I am looking forward to comparing the minds and abilities of different Slybabies with different trainers.

Is the secret weapon the lady trainer? Well keep us updated on his progress. How long are you going to have him there?

Nope-- the Secret Weapon is the one who rode Haida Girl for us last year. He is pretty impressive. I usually just put 30 days on them to sell them, but we will see where he is at by then

I was actually telling the big nasty last night about MY secret plan to get the pt job and sneakily purchase Mr Radar - he didn't put up a fuss what so ever - hmmm... could he be SOFTENING?

I wonder who's snatched the REAL big nasty???

Anyhoo, I am going to continue to poke around him with this option!

My heart STILL after 2+ years pitter patters with his pictures(Radar not the hubby - haha) - and the fact that he hasn't been chosen by others, just says it's fate and he's MEANT to be mine, all mine.. mine, mine, mine, mine mine!

hahaha

boy oh boy...it looks almost like Gunner and Radar have the same split personality.

Good but can show some bad.

Nah, that is not bad, that is BABY. New situation, he has to try everything to see if things are the same there as as they are at home. Now if he is still acting like that in a few months, I will be concerned. Otherwise, just about par for the course

It didn't look to me like he was really pulling his heart out, just testing to see if the post really would hold.

MY mare on the other hand split her forehead open the day after she arrived because she decided she was NOT going to be tied thankyouverymuch. She meant it.

She was a Silly Goose when I got her.

HA- it is always something to make us wonder if we picked the wrong one huh?

Genuine Appeal was a champion puller. She spent months pulling chains out of the wall at her trainer--how embarassing. He said she pulled out every tying spot on the property.

After that, this is easy!
