For reasons that take too long to explain, we have to take a dog with us when we go away for any length of time. This time we took Thor. I have hesitated to take him in the past because he barks at horses sometimes, and is so needy.
He really proved himself this time though--he was a good neighbor, no barking, no stealing food, nothing to be complained about at all.
He did not even get riled up while everyone else was worked up over the missing horse.
He does take exception to being woken up though!

Thor has his moments but is generally a very happy man
Can you believe that was a gift for Thor right after he got ouf the hospital last fall--from the members of a group I have been in for years. I found it on the porch, no note, not hing, but I knew well enough to ask.
Everyone should have that support when they need it
