This was an eventful weekend in the Shawnee National Forest.
In an effort to be responsible while a non-horsey friend rode with us, I rode Barry's mare Haidadoc instead of my Cash, who can be a little unpredictable.
Did I screw that up or what? Midway through our ride, at a rest spot---HaidaGirl decided she had had enough of me and LEFT! Great chase was given by Headley on his good horse Woodrow--but she was too much for even that pair. Evidently she takes after her mother in her ability to cover the ground in a hurry.
She disappeared and was on the lam for hours---fortunately for us, she made her way to a lake where some men were fishing and they tied her to a tree until some riders came by and offered her to pony her back to camp and find out who she belonged to.
An odd coincidence is that those riders were friends of ours (Tony and Gary, et al), camped right next to us, and if I think I will EVER hear the end of this, I am sure I am gravely mistaken.
Even so I am still so grateful to them, it is worth it.
The picture posted is of her just before her flight--I still see no sign that she was plotting against me. Of all the horses I have, I could not have been more schocked at who did this! (let's ignore the fact for the moment that it was entirely my fault--I have had enough stress for one week!)

I am glad your friends cought up with her and brought her back to you. Did you have her tied up for that picture?
