Oddly enough, I got a letter from AQHA yesterday telling me that I need to do DNA testing on Playin N the San, a filly by San N Doc that I sold as a yearling a long time ago. I need to do this because she is now listed on a stallion report.
It has been every bit of five years ago that I sold her. Gracious, San N Doc has been dead that long and she was one of his last.
Who breeds a horse without ensuring that she is in their name? I know who I sold her to all those years ago, but I don't know if he still has her. Beyond that, I have no way of tracking the owners down to give them the heads up that she is not registered in their name yet.
I realize this is not really my problem, but theirs, but it amazes me that these things happen. I am lucky to keep track of paperwork for the time it takes me to get home with it, so I always tend to business straight away---I cannot imagine trying to keep track of something like a transfer for 5 years!
Another call to AQHA I guess!
