Ups and downs

Well this trip so far is chock full of interesting developments. We got to LA on time, and then things started going berserk.

I had a text from Barry saying "RIP Lucky", so I immediately called him to see what the hell was going on. Evidently, when Madison got there to feed, Lucky had taken off her blanket and was laying down by the round bale, but would not get up. Madison got her a new blanket and got her to roll over to get it on her and called Barry. He too was unable to get her up, so he called the vet.

Since then, Kevin has come to put her down. By the time he got there, she was almost gone already--I guess at 25 she had enough. I knew her time was coming, as I could not get weight on her, but she was playing this weekend, and seemed to be pretty content. This winter might have just been too much for her, and her organs just shut down. She was 25, but a very old 25. She is the mom of Fuzzy, Radar and Riot and she had beautiful babies for us, and was a nice mare to be around. She also had Lucifer when we first bought her, 8 years ago, but he too had to be put down at age 2, due to strangles that attacked the weak spot in his body--his leg that had been broken as a baby, repaired surgically and never got as strong as it should have.

I feel so bad that I was not there to deal with it and that Barry had to--although he does owe me one, as I did the last one, it still does not feel right to not say good bye.

In the midst of all that, my plane was delayed. Evidently, people in Los Angeles freak over rain. It was all right that it was delayed some as that allowed me to finish the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Stallion Auction, and snag my last breeding as I sat on the plane.

The bad part is that I am STILL sitting on the plane, past the time I was supposed to be in Vegas and meet another friend. I dont know how long she can hold out waiting for me and all my batteries are dying. That is bad bad bad.

So the good thing of today's developments is the breeding I got. I have bid on him a lot and keep getting sniped, so I am glad I finally got it done here at the last minute!

It is Laredo Blue. You can see all his details and these photos I stole off his website-- sdpbuffaloranch.com

He is a beauty isnt he? I love his breeding--as you can tell by the fact that I have some of it at my house already. I do not know who I am going to breed to him---I was not sure I would get him and this kind of changes things.

I am glad I have this to focus on, as I am missing my Lucky a little already.
When I get my real computter back with all my pics on it, I will do a tribute to her

The "Good, Bad, but not Ugly"

All good things come to an end and Lucky deserves her peaceful end leaving great memories for you.

Many good things start with your new beginnings of----maybe a new kind of Lucky.

The "not ugly" was the beauty of Lucky and the beauty of future babies.

And *^%$*&( goes to the weather and airlines. Hope you are there now.

Enjoy Carol

I'm sorry to hear about Lucky too.... especially with you not being there, that really stinks.

When you bid on these stallions, are you bidding on sperm or what?

Sorry to hear about Lucky. I think she was trying to save you from the heartache. She waited until she knew you were out of town.

Congrats on the breeding win!!! That will be another stunning baby I am sure.

I feel for you on the loss of Lucky. I miss my Lucky too...hasn't been a month yet. And how strange that they both went the same way - and with us gone.

HUGS

I'm glad Lucky didn't have to suffer long. Losing Lucifer broke my heart, so I know losing his mother hurt you a lot.
I hope you're winning money and losing weight, not the reverse.
Have a great time. I know how much you need these little getaways, and I'm so glad you can do it for yourself.
Love you too much,
you know who I am
