Under the Gunk

After 26 hours of being wrapped and antibioticed, this is what Tango's knee looks like. The damage is not really deep after all, but there is certainly some meat missing. The worst part of it is the location--right across her knee. That will make it harder to heal, but I am not really concerned about it--being this close to a joint is always nerve-wracking but since it did not get too deep, I am sure she will be fine. Whatever infection we saw in the pus last nite is working out well, but it sure does not smell good right now--I know that is part of the process, but it is still funky to have to be face first in that mess. It is amazing to me that she is not walking funny on it at all--she must be one tough cookie.

For some reason, easing into the routine of treating an ouch like this makes me feel weird--bad because she got hurt, but good because I feel good taking special care of her. Very interesting situation, that one. I guess it is a good thing I dont have people kid's--I might end up being one of those Munchausen by Proxy people.

Us gals are all "tough cookies" when you get down to it.

It's your regular routine of helping ---that gives that "accomplishment" feeling.

The healing process looks well in hand----Dr. Paige says.

Man, that is a special cut :( Do you know how she did it? I can't ever find what they hurt themselves on and it makes me crazy. I bet it will heal up fine. Glad it didn't get in the joint!

Well Paige, I tried to post a comment early this morning, but something went haywire.

That gash is painful to look at. I had to deal with a similar one with my husbands horse. Had a really hard time keeping the Vetwrap on it for the initial treatment. After a couple of days we used Wonder Dust and it healed up in no time. I'm sure you're familiar with that, too. I love that product! As the name implies...it works wonders.

I was thrilled that you mentioned Munchausen's syndrome, because any time I have said anything about that (which I don't do on a regular basis) people have looked at me as though I have a third eye in the middle of my forehead!

burst out laughing.....

you would never be a MBP person....if you were going to make someone ill, it would be deliberate and with force...errr foresight....errr by accident. Yeah. That.

Poor baby, I am sure you will take excellent care of her.
