Monday morning mashup

This is what baby breakfast looks like around here. They babies are still in their ugly stage, so this is the only way that they look decent--in some weird shot. Plus, I swear my long lens is shooting craps-- I am calling about it tomorrow as it is still under warranty, but I think it is just worn out. The good news is that my real camera is back! Yay that is a relief, she is working just fine now--Canon said the pins that plug into the compact flash card were broken. I do not know what that has to do with what it did, but whatever--it is back and it works.

I have done virtually nothing all weekend--it has been an absolute pleasure. We went to the movies last nite, saw Bedtime Stories which was cute.

The shoes have been found. No more making excuses about exercise that requires shoes. That means back to two a days. Or maybe even three a days--there are some classes I want to take at the Y--like a spinning class. And I am going to try a regular aerobics class tomorrow- in place of water aerobics to see if I can do it without breaking my neck. This should be a hoot. You may never hear from me again.that

Since I was home all weekend, I got to see some weird things about my pets. Tequila is still recovering from her teeth cleaning she had on Wednesday. The vet thought she would have to pull several teeth, as she has so much damage to them. The vet said they looked like she has spent years chewing on fence--which would be consistent with her having been part of a puppy mill before she was dumped. Poor girl, it just breaks my heart. So she has part of an ear, a shaved ass that she wont quit chewing on so it is bloody, a ruptured eyeball, and squirrelly teeth that are worn down to the pulp in some places. The vet did not end up having to pull any after all, but was amazed at that considering how they look---she cannot figure out why she is not in horrible pain, but she does not appear to be. She also thinks she is every bit as old as Thor, so around 8 years old. That is so sad to me, but makes sense with the way she is falling apart lately.

She has been playing more, and had gained 4 pounds in a week, since I put her on gross canned food thinking perhaps her teeth hurt. I guess it is working as she is eating like a fiend, and when I put her outside to play, she actually plays. This week will be way too cold for her though so she will be housebound.

Then on Sunday, Slater screamed when Barry touched him on the butt. Both Argo and Thor did that before they got sick. After he stopped screaming, he kept his tail tucked, and the hair on his back stood on end until he got out of the house to go potty. He acted perfectly normal after that, but it is hard to get it out of your mind when you have heard that before and know where it lead.

After his little display, which seemed to pass by the time he got back in the house, Simba was acting odd. Very strange--she would stand by my chair, with her head hanging low. She had a very disturbed look on her face, but was not whining and did not have a hard tummy, like she would if she was bloating. I had to watch her for a few hours, then ultimately she decided she was fine and went to sleep. Maybe she realized that my heart still hurts from Thor's episode and that I cannot take any more of that yet.

In the midst of all this drama, the pig has developed a new habit. For some unreason completely unknown to me, he has decided that he should stand on the front porch and holler. He is not pointed at the door, like he wants in-- but standing on the porch broadcasting his complaints to everyone within shouting distance. We heard him when we were watching TV but we thought we had a bad belt somewhere, it was so squealy. Finally we realized it was coming from outside, and Barry went to see if that rat dog from next door had gotten himself into trouble. Instead he found pig on the porch hollering at nothing.

That is just what I need-- a pig with a psychological problem.

Four-legged friends are so important in the two-legged world. My heart goes out to those guys------and Boce---making announcements to the world that all is well at your house.

We too have an ailing friend. Girleepup our "dump off" from about 12 years ago a border collie.

Well wishes for our friends. Carol

holy moley! Animals are falling apart all over. I have not gotten Dash out of his crate yet this morning, but he has an appointment at 2:30 to see his doc for that leg. Let hope it's just a pulled muscle or something that won't require surgery.
