Highlight #1: It is 7:20 p.m. and I have already been home for one hour. When does THAT happen?
But with this much rain, what am I going to do? It was raining when I got up this morning. This was the scene on the way to the farm after work tonight--they just got the beans out of this field this week--and look at the water standing in it all ready. It has its share of traffic as well--why are deer standing out in the rain? Get a tree, you dumb deer. Maybe all our hunters scared them out of the woods.
These three babies--Disco, Gizmo, and Uno have obviously been out in the rain as they are all wet, but now they are in their shelter watching. They looked so cute, watching the ruckus unfolding in the barn. In the stall directly across from them, Echo had her drag lead stuck on her bucket and was putting up a hell of a ruckus. That is the risk you run with a drag, but it also really works to teach them to give to pressure, on their own, so we do it anyway. So shoot me.
You know there is always a hog or two in the bunch, and I think this is Tango and Ammo with their heads up in the round bale. No wonder though, since they are the most recently released babies. I doubt they even know it is raining.
This was the best news though--Mojo in the trailer. I snuck through the barn to see what his deal was, and as I got down the aisleway, I could see part of the pen, and I noticed I was holding my breath as I could see more and more of it. And look where I found him! Right up in the trailer, like a smart boy! I guess the rain was a powerful incentive. I have always said he was smart--too smart sometimes.
He posed for me all pretty. By the time I got this pic, Madison showed up and said he was going in and out like a big boy--he had loaded 5 times while she was feeding, got out when it was time to pour his feed in there for him, then loaded up and did it again. That answered the question for me about how comfortable he is--evidently, quite comfy! Isnt that awesome?
See--proof he gets in and out! He was out enough to be wet all over his topline but sure enough, he is quite content.
It sure was nice to see.
Especially considering the 30 minutes before I got to the farm.
As I left work, I had a show cause order from the court on a new case. Those are orders that say there is something procedurally wrong with your case, now tell us why we should not throw it out. You usually get only a short time, like 7 days, to answer them, and I do not have the record on this client yet. I read through it real quick to see it is a stupid thing that probably could have been avoided if anyone had been paying attention. I hate getting stuff like that at the end of the day
So I walked to the front door and ran into the boss on the way and I asked him if he had seen it and isn't that stupid? What is going on over there, they are making life hard for no reason, and probably did not even look at the document or review it thoroughly, etc...just general ranting. He was trying to be all logical about maybe this, maybe that--I do not want to hear that at 5 pm, I want to complain and go home and go to bed. I felt like my head was in a vice, even my teeth hurt, and here he was being logical. So I ranted about that long enough that Ed came out of his office to see what the deal was. I was getting tired by then, so I turned around to flounce out dramatically.
And what did I do?
Ran smack into the door face first, and almost knocked myself unconscious, that is what.
So much for my dramatic exit huh? I left those two fools laughing at me, and decided to take the elevator instead of the stairs, to keep from falling down them.
I stopped at the grocery store to get chili stuff, and what happens as soon as I get inside? I slip and fall flat on my back as the floor is wet from the rain.
Blech. Not so good, this attempt to go home.
When I finally got here after the farm, I started the chili, and told Barry he was eating tacos for dinner, since I had 4 pounds of meat from Sam's I had to cook before it went bad, and those are the only things that take that much meat. I was all multi-tasking opening cans, etc, dumping them in the crock pot and browning the meat and I decided that the meat looked goofy and it must be bad or something. I had to throw it all away--18 bucks of meat. Plus, now I have beans and tomato sauce in the crock pot and nothing to put in it.
And am too tired to do anything about it, for real.
But Barry made me a strawberry smoothie with the Activa yogurt I am supposed to eat but cannot tolerate the texture of. It is pretty good.
I hope to not get out of this chair the whole rest of the nite.

oh my. Honestly. that was a great pix of the 3 babies all looking out at you. And I am so proud of Mojo. What a good boy he is. I cannot wait to get my hands on him...rubs them together gleefully.
smack into the door was hysterical. As my daughter said, you really are funny. I am glad you did not get hurt tho, slipping on the floor, that is dangerous.
Sorry but I am cracking up over this...
"Ran smack into the door face first, and almost knocked myself unconscious, that is what."
and, if I was faced with rain like that? There would be no way I would get out of bed! Id make it a candle lit TV/Blog day in pajamas.
You are a pa-saster! How did you keep from spilling your brains on the floor in either of those scenarios? I'm sorry for you.

I love the pic of the three babies looking at you.. that is too cute. And I think sometimes a rainy day is needed. You need a day when you just CAN'T work outside. I hope you got your night of rest!!
