Kind of eerie

As I was posting that photo of Thor from last nite, he was acting strangely. He kept trying to hack up something, but got nothing but foam. That put me on high alert. When he finally laid down on the couch and cried, I knew we were in trouble. I recognized those symptoms

It is now 2:18 am, and we just checked into a hotel in St Louis. Kevin sent me to Hawthorne Animal Clinic, where we did xrays and confirmed he had bloated and torsioned, and at his age and other maladies, they did not think he would make it through surgery.

I cannot believe that I started this day with Thor, watched him play with Tequila at 6:30 and at 1:45 am, he was dead.

I loved this dog like I birthed him, he was special. He had a hard life, and we were just getting ready to celebrate his 6 year gotcha anniversary on September 14.

I feel like I have been hit by a car. That would be a lot easier to get over

Remember Thor as in a celebration of his wonderful life with you.

He will be watching and be with your other pals "up there"

So sorry.

Sincerely Carol

I'm sorry for your loss. It is kind of eerie how things can be just going so smoothly and then it all falls apart "just like that."

I'm so sorry for you guys.

Keep telling yourself that for nearly 6 years from his "Gotcha" date has been the best 6 years of his life filled with love, full bellies, scratches, playing and contentment that he would have never had.

You do good work Strawns. Don't forget that!

I am so sorry to hear about your dog! I know when our shitzu got hit by a motorcycle, it felt like a close friend had died. It felt weird with only two dogs in the bed, and our peke-poo didn't have anyone to play with anymore. My heart goes out to you!

I am so so so sorry Paige. When I met Thor I was impressed by his sweet nature and his friendly attitude. Had he ever met a stranger? I bet not.

Hugs to you during this hard time.

Thank you all, it is just devastating. He was the one that loved me most and he was such a mess that you had to love him back just because.

I kept waking up in this hotel wondering what was wrong with me, and then I would remember. And want to throw up.

It is so worth it to have had him at all, he brought me so much joy, but right now it does not feel like it.

Paige, I am so sorry to have read about your beloved Thor. In keeping up with your blog I have come to know how much your dogs mean to you. It was evident that he was a cherished member of your family.

Paige, I'm so sorry for your loss. They never stay with us long enough, do they. But the time we have with them is worth it.

Yes it is---this time will pass and I will feel better, but hell I still cry over Stumpy who died 6 years ago---but I usually cry when I am laughing about him. And Argo who we lost December 2006.

I am afraid to go home, because then it will be real.

I knew it would happen someday, but I sure was not ready for it to be this one. I was not even close to done with my baby boy

Oh my god, I can't believe it. I am soooo sorry. This makes me cry. I loved him while we were there, he was my favorite. Sometimes I think about what it will feel like when Tori dies, and I just can't imagine it, so I feel so much for you :(
