I have to admit that after Bonaire, Aruba was a bit of a letdown---and I do not know why since it has everything to offer. I guess it was the commercialism--it does not have the laid back charm that the smaller islands have, and the resorts we saw were all huge monsters. While I normally like a really nice resort, I think I am growing out of it and enjoying them less over time.
That being said, there will probably be a couple of posts on Aruba, since Barry and I went on different activities and I need him to tell me what some of his photos are. That means you get just mine now.
The highlight of course was the horseback riding trip that Carrie and I did. Advertised as a 2.5 hour ride, it was probably more like an hour, but it was really nice. Especially if you ignored the obnoxious family that rode with us, and instead focused on a couple from Maryland who ride team penners, and even bought one from a guy that rides with Charlie in national pennings. It is a small world, huh?
Aruba is a lot smaller than I thought it was, but has a pretty dense population. People do not live on one side of it, so the population is concentrated. Where it is deserted like where we rode on the beach, it is pretty wild and hairy. The surf was really rough, and the only other things we saw where people jeeping and ATVing. The dunes and cactus are so different from what you see on the coasts.
I will do a separate post for Barry's pics and also for the other things Aruba had to offer, such as the shopping, the beaches, etc.

cute pony you are on! And that is a good pic of Carrie looking back at you!
Beautiful scenery and beaches.
do they have shells on them?
What is their "commercial souvenier" that they want tourists to buy?
Carol
This really looks like fun!
You look great on the horse. I forget what a beautiful smile you have. It really shows up with your tan.
Love you,
Mom
