Doc's Serendipity clone to sell Thursday, Dec. 13

A clone of Doc's Serendipity, the Reserve Champion of the 1977 NCHA Open Futurity with trainer Joe Heim in the saddle, will be sold as consignment No. 5139 during the Preferred Breeders Sale Session 2 held Thursday, Dec. 13. The clone, Doc's Serendipity DNA, foaled in 2006, is the first clone of a horse to be sold at public auction. Doc's Serendipity was a 1974 daughter of Doc Bar bred and raised by David Brown, now living in Gainesville, Texas. The filly is registered with the National DNA Registry since clones are ineligible for AQHA registration. Doc's Serendipity is the dam of offspring winning over $295,000.

Missy actually figured this out by scanning sales blurbs about the upcoming sales and we tried to figure out what was going on. It sure never SAID she was a clone, but we figured she had to be. I contacted Glory Ann Kurtz, thinking she would have the scoop--but this time, it was us that had the scoop. She just released this story, so I guess she confirmed it. I so wish I had known she was selling Thursday instead of Friday, as I would love to see her sell-- it will be a historical moment. Leave it to me to buy the plane tix for the wrong day--we arrive early Friday morning

You did--I was just bragging on you to be the first one to figure it out--who knows if it would have gotten any coverage at all had you not caught it
