A Slybaby tragedy- with a good outcome

I just talked to one of our breeding customers who had lost her breeder's certificate and needed a replacement. I had never heard from her what kind of baby her mare had and when it happened, etc. I had heard rumors that she had an incident with some dogs attacking a new foal there and prayed that it was not the Slybaby. Not that it is cool if it happened to any baby, but I sure did not want it to be one of mine.

Well, shoot-- it was. She says the mare was in the front yard grazing overnight, a month before she was due and she woke up in the morning to find she had foaled and the dogs were chewing on the baby.

She pulled him through it though, and he is her "Miracle Baby". She is naming him Freckles Im Tuff Enuff (dam is Freckles Estelita). She hopes to have a website up soon so that we can see him, and will get pics to us soon--I cannot wait to see him. She says he does not have a scar on him anywhere, nor does he have any white markings at all--he is dun. I cannot wait to see him.

Tuff is spoiled from all the doctoring he received and likes to take baths, and boss the other babies, even though he is small from being premature. She did say that he is put together just right--no surprise there, but it is always good to hear!
