"The penalty for laughing in a courtroom is six months in jail; if it were not for this penalty, the jury would never hear the evidence."

This sums up my afternoon thus far.
Then I have to remind myself that what the great Oliver Wendell Holmes said: "Lawyers spend a great deal of their time shoveling smoke."
I guess I should not be surprised.

In an email directly to you-------about jury duty-----I surely clamped my hand over my mouth in a supreme effort not to laugh at the Big Tennessee Bureau of Investigation lawyer when he pulled a Perry Mason and said
YA'LL in his summation.
From the north "guys" would have been the preferred word, but probably not in a court room with the judge watching and waiting.
That saying was appropriate.
