Integrating in to this family

is probably not run of the mill, I guess, considering the strange things that go on around here. Tonight was no exception. The new girl, who still has no name but is getting closer, met the pig. Probably this is not standard fare in the life of a Dane, or a stray dog, but nothing is ever normal around here, is it? The pig has no sense, and no fear, and the new girl is considering eating him. Fortunately, he is still faster than her. She contented herself with just taking his blanket.

I also played in the yard with her some tonight, then came in to hang out. She breathes so hard, and I know it is 100 degrees but no one else is breathing that hard. I wanted to see what it took to calm her down--evidently an hour or so of rest. She is quiet now, other than keeping a keen eye on Bocephus.

Meanwhile, Slater and Simba are in the back yard barking their fool heads off from being locked out while she visits. This sets Thor off, who is barking in general defense of her, I think. Or defense of the pig. I am not sure which, but it sure got loud in here!

I am starting to see some fun in her---she is relaxing around us. At one point, she and Thor were wiggling around on their backs in the grass together--so cute, but of course, I could not get the pic quickly enough.

This last one cracks me up--just when I get used to that wonky eye of her (which I think is just a REALLY lazy eye, and reminds me of my sister when she was little and we called her Sidewinder), I get a funny pic of her that makes her look flat insane.

she looks like Scooby Doo in that last picture.

Either I am missing it or the first pic didn't show her true colors as she looks interested in Boccy but not eaing interested.

I like her (and NO she cannot come to the HollyWood Dog motel for strays), I think she is probably sweet as sugar.

She was working up to it--I think she was trying to figure out what kind of dog Boce is. When he decided to wander off, she stalked him, and smacked him a couple of times...so he oinked and ran under the kitchen table. She REALLY liked that and popped around a bit like she was excited. I had to make her go lay down or she would likely still be standing there looking at him under the table.

I think she is not angry about him, but wants to play with him. Or taste him

I'll tell you what - after meeting her yesterday and the fact that she was only there less than 24 hours - and how SWEET she is - somebody would be NUTS not to want her... She's a doll!

Shame someone didn't take care of her!

what is she looking at so intently in that second pix? Hope it isn't the baby piggy.....

She just gets sweeter every day Lorna and is trying so hard---when Barry got home last night, she was asleep on her blanket with the pig, and got right up to go greet Barry. You can tell she is still scared as she had her tail tucked but the very end of it was wagging. When he would stop petting but still be standing there, she would wag the whole thing. She is trying so hard to be brave.

And yes Holly, that is probably what she was looking at!

I will thank you to not publicly denounce me on your blog. Yes, I was cross-eyed as the day is long, but must you announce it to all your friends and colleagues. For cryin' out loud-- I tried to rectify it by looking THROUGH my nose.

Oh, and about the dog, she's darling. Can I have her?

And that is exactly what it looks like she is doing. But I cannot bring myself to name her Sidewinder.
She is much worse than you ever were, it is kind of pathetic, but cute. And she could hold up some gobbles on her nose far better than you ever did, but she seems to see fine.

You will love her, she is so precious. Isabelle would look even more neurotic next to her, and that does not seem possible

Have you decided on a name yet? She looks like she's moved right in! How old do you think she is, I see she has some graying around her muzzle. She's such a pretty girl. I love the funky ear thing. What a character!

I think she is pretty young, I would say younger than two, although it is hard to say when she is so thin. Her teeth have virutally no plaque on them, and I doubt seriously that her previous owner would have tended to that for her, just to dump her.

My first Dane Stumpy was really gray when he passed at 2 1/2, so who knows what her gray means. Slater has none at 5, Thor none at almost 7 and Sim has just a little at 7

she is a nice looking girl. I had a black dane once. Probably the nicest dog I ever had. I miss her :) Now I couldn't live with the tail I am afraid. My knees just can't take it. I hope you can find a way to keep her. It looks like she is happy where she is.

Run Bocephus RUN!!!!

I think it is the running that gets him in trouble--and the screeching that goes along with it!

Well Paige, I think she's found her new home! She's a really pretty girl. She looks very sweet. Maybe she can be BS's dog, once she get's over her fear... ; )
