Big developments on the blowhole

And this time, I am not talking about our esteemed governor!

All of our soaking and iccthhammoling has been paying off with Nita. I had the farrier here tonight and had him take a hoof knife to her to find the abcess, so we could give her some relief.

It was pretty unnecessary, as she blew the wierdest slice in her hoof that I have ever seen. It is right at the top of her hoof, and about an inch long. No wonder she is walking better! He also found the bruise in her sole where she must have stepped on something like a sharp rock, and was able to dig out the sole until we found where it had been festering. There is nothing left in there any more.

So, ol Nita has gone a LONG way from Tuesday when she was going to experience the dirt nap, until today, when she got to be turned out with the rest of the herd.

I feel like a new person, I can only imagine how she is feeling. She is definitely getting back to herself, as she was perky and did not argue with Marvin about picking up her ouchy foot--that she would not do it easily for me was a sign that she was miserable.

Aw, good deal on Miss Nita! I'm so glad for you all that it was something manageable and she's doing so well now!
