A productive week!

Things are really starting to move around here!

Just this morning, Sly acquired two lady friends for this season--he will be relieved to hear that. Everyone likes a change of scenery, and he is no different--typical boy, making notches on his ? on his what? what do you call it for a horse? I have seen the produce of one of them, and really like what she has done. The other is a maiden mare that is cute as she can be, and it is always fun to have two mares owned by the same person---it is fascinating to see how the babies are the same, yet so different from each other. Plus, these mares are owned by wonderful people and I will be glad to have Slybabies in their care.

Tomorrow, I go pick up yet another new lady friend for him---but this one is joining his harem full-time. I am going to wait to spill the beans until I get her settled in here at home though. I dont know how long I can hold out, but I dont want to jinx it ----she will at least be in her quarantine stall before I say so.

Monday, the farrier will be here to address the new girl's fairly seriously mistreated feet, as well as knock out another dozen trims, etc. Heck of a way to spend President's Day, but any day with Marvin the Miracle Farrier is fun, as I learn so much from him just by watching. He knows how to handle a horse, for sure.

Also on Monday, I will be taking Haida Girl to The Secret Weapon for a short while--he is going to show her next weekend. That is pretty exciting!

Last nite, I made arrangements for Cash to have a refresher course with a friend who is extra good at keeping them quiet and a joy to be around. Cash has taken a year off, for all intents and purposes, but she is in the lineup to be my ride this year---so a little reminder of how to act is in order. She will head there in about a month and stay a month or two.

At the end of this month, Rondee will be delivered to Clint Ramsey Performance Horses for the indefinite future. If things go true to form, she will hit a major growth spurt when she gets there (which she desperately needs) and I won't recognize her in a couple of months. The goal is to get her started well, and sell her. She may be bred to cut, but I think she might make a reiner, so I would like to try her at that. I guess we will know soon enough!

We are also in negotiations over the darn foalcam---there will be one again, and hopefully we will not have the problems with using up all the bandwidth like we had last year. Cross your fingers!

I like this time of year.
