Gizmo

Like the other Hotrod/Sly babies---Gizmo is stunning. There is not a lot more I can say about her--she is eye catching, flashy, built exceptionally well--she reminds me so much of Squirrel and Target. They all look alike of course--Hotrod consistently produces the nicest baby for us, I think.

This one will probably be weaned with Echo soon, as soon as the heat breaks

The nursery

Mares are so funny--I am so used to them and their habits that I do not think a lot about it until I am seeing it through someone's eyes. I took Court out on the Gator Friday afternoon to see babies, and the first thing we saw was the nursery---a pack of four mares who were sharing babysitting duty.

Something you would not necessarily know unless you knew them is that although they look like they are paired up appropriately, they are not---the mothers do not necessarily correspond with the baby closest to them. I did not notice it either until I looked at some of the pics.

Notice how filthy they are---from all the rain last week, water was pretty much standing everywhere, but these babies do not let that interfere with their naps---they just look stupid when they get up.

Gizmo was most resentful of having her nap interrupted--doesnt she look disgusted with me?

Gizmo is the most photogenic

Almost a good shot, I just needed a few more inches at the bottom. Oh well, knowing her, there will be thousands of more opportunities.

Almost everything she does is worth taking a picture of--she is so elegant and that stunning head makes even her doofus moves look like I should take notice.

This is a pretty good one, I love the colors and the contrast between the red and green.

For Missy---more twin pics

Missy mentioned earlier that Gizmo and Hotrod walked the same way in the photo I posted. This made me go back and look at a few more and see what they showed. A lot of them were that way, but this one was the most striking in their similarity.


From front to back, they are in the same position here---heads cocked funny with their noses to the left, but their necks stretched as well...ears not quite pinned but not up either....left foot barely ahead of the right one....resting their right rear leg and their tails blowing around or being held up.

That is downright freaky

Gizmo is getting big

She surprised me today when she was in with her mama, who was being ultrasounded. She is so tall for her age, and is such a pretty girl.

I should take more pictures of her, they grow up too fast.

Hotrod checked in foal 16 days--old reliable, she is a good mare

Babies this week- and a name change

Triton just could not stick for me, so now baby boy is named Turbo--that goes well with his nonstop hollering so that he sounds like a jet engine and his running like his butt is on fire.


The sun has come out so I have managed to get a few shots of the babies--nothing earth shattering because I cannot walk around on the rough ground without hurting too bad, so I am limited to what I can get from outside the pasture, and then can only do it at certain times of the day so that the sun is in the right place.


They are such cute babies though, even the not so great shots are still worth having. They are growing up so fast, it makes me sad.
