Thirty-two years

Today marks thirty two years since I got burned. We call this Crispy Critter day and it is usually a big party day for us. Might as well celebrate it, since it made me who I am today--whether that is good or bad is usually up for debate around here.

Anyway, this year is a little more sedate, as Barry is on the boy trip skiing still.

Jenna and I decided to go shopping near St Louis to celebrate. Usually that means we go to one store, then to Hooters for a cold beer, then to another store, then for another cold beer. We may or may not get much done in the way of shopping, but who cares?

Today was different. We were on a forced march. We went to Target to get stuff for Sam's birthday this week, and look at new swimming suits--I am obsessed with cheap swimmers. Did not buy a one though.

I did however try on a pair of jeans in a smaller size, and they fit! I did not like them, so I did not buy them--again not the point.

We went to lunch, then to another store that usually has a lot of selection in my size--what I normally call "circus size". First Jenna bought some shoes that made her day, and then we got to my section and it was a complete bust. I wanted to cry.

I was hanging out by the dressing room while I waited on her, when I decided to try on a shirt from the regular section. And the damn thing fit. It was two sizes smaller than I normally wear. I could not believe it. That set me off on a spree and I bought a bunch of stuff but had to try it all on. Good thing too, as even XL was too big in one of the sweaters--Jenna made me get large instead. I doubt I have bought a large sweater since junior high when I was a stick.

That made my day.

Then I talked to Barry. I knew he still did not feel good, as I had talked with him this morning. He was breathing hard when he answered the phone, and I wondered what in the world he was doing. He was huffing and puffing--and dragging an oxygen machine. The poor boy is so sick, he had been to the hospital and they put him on oxygen for altitude sickness. He is weak, has terrible headaches, is drowsy and cannot stay awake, and just hurts. He cannot get his breath, either. On top of all that, he has a ruptured eardrum--those ears are going to be the death of him.

Hell of a way to enjoy boy trip huh?

All in all, an odd day. I hope he feels better soon, although how much can he do, lugging his oxygen with him like an old man?

Aries is still pregnant, do not ask me how. I am now home with my puppies for a few hours--I have not seen them in days, I have been so busy at the farm. I am hoping this foal watch is over tomorrow, so I can do something else for a while

I'm coming over from Blog Stalkers Unite, asking for your help. I am in the running for a round trip airfare paid ticket to Connecticut, to meet a friend I became acquainted with through blogging. She is a super fun person and is holding this contest. I entered a funny story titled "Grapejuice Floaties, Now Marry Me." The person whose story receives the most votes will win a trip to meet this generous lady, whom I'm hoping to meet. The voting ends tomorrow I believe. I am ahead for now but there is a story coming up from behind out of nowhere and I would so, so, appreciate your help. Her blog is www.becausemomsaidso.blogspot.com and the voting is on the sidebar on the right. "Grapejuice, Floaties" Just go there and cast a vote for me, please. Thanks so much-you're awesome! ♥

Sounds like a fun day! It's always exciting when you discover you have shrunk! Good for you :-)

I guess I don't know about the burn incident, but I think it's great you celebrate the recovery and impact it had on you regardless. Way to be positive!
