A bunch of crap=and screw Verizon

No this is not me bitching about my job. For real. Shocking isnt it?

It is just a bunch of random stuff, since I am too tired to put together a coherent post with any depth.

I have only exercised once this week. I kind of suck. But to be fair, nature is plotting against me. The pool was closed yesterday, no one knows why--it does things like that. If it rains, they close. If sleet is called for next week, they close. And you do not know until you are there. I went to the gym Tuesday after work even though I was so worn out, I could hardly move. I will go to the pool tomorrow and they better be friggin open, as the other gym is closed tomorrow for no apparent reason, but at least there was some warning of that. Maybe they are going to clean. That would be a first. That place is foul.

Last nite was the big party for the boss--his retirement thing. It was really really nice. We had a bunch of judges, even a Supreme Court judge--which is pretty impressive always, but especially on the day the Court was deciding how to handle our fool ass governor. Some old employees, local attorneys and court personnel came. It was a good send off and I think the boss really enjoyed himself. The old head of our agency was there, and I always love to see him. I needed to talk to him about our dive trip to Bonaire and the place we booked to stay--he was the one that turned me on to Bonaire, as he has been there 25 times--and in fact, stayed at the same resort we will be at, just a couple of weeks ago.

What else? We have been under a constant mist of sleet. That can put a damper on a girl's attitude, let me tell you.

The big news is my blackberry came! Which brings me to the fight I had with Verizon.

The day before the new blackberry was released (Nov 20, I believe) I called up to see about getting one, since the boss told me to leave my laptop at home. I think Verizon is a little bit of a black hole of reason. If I walked in off the street, they would sell me a $199 blackberry and sign me up for a two year contract. That I have been a customer for 14 years is not helping me. You know what I get for that? BUPKIS. In the midst of that call, I came to my senses and decided to wait until I am eligible for my upgrade in August.

About a week later, I changed my mind and called them back. I ordered up my Blackberry for 319 and a one-year extension. It was backordered but would ship by December 8.

Meanwhile, I had the complicating factor of my regular phone being a royal pain in the ass. It is a LG chocolate, and so sensitive that when I held it to my ear, the pretend buttons would push and scream during conversations. It was incredibly annoying. I had previously talked to Verizon about how I hated it and they said they would give me something else, if I wanted. Eh, I did not know it was worth all that.

Then it went totally berserk. I got it out of my purse one morning, and it was covered in lines. I could not see the screen, so I could not use the menus, or the contact lists or even see the numbers I was dialing to determine if I was mis-dialing. I called them back about that, and they had Asurion, the insurance company that provided it, send me the proof of purchase so I could get a new one. At a store we do not have.

They were not worried about the fact that there is no real Verizon store around here. I was, but with a new blackberry coming, who cares.

Then it became December 10 and no sign of my phone, no email with a tracking number, nothing.

So I called up and asked what the hell was the deal? Their answer: they had CANCELLED MY ORDER. Why you ask? I certainly did, as I was trying to not have my head blow right the hell off my shoulders. The chic told me that they could not sell me that phone with a one year extension. They had cancelled the order the day I placed it and she did not know why no one told me. I suggested because they knew they were the devil and did not want someone to point that out to them. She was not amused. She never did get amused, but kept putting me on hold forever and supposedly talking to a supervisor. Probably she was doing her nails.

Repeatedly I suggested that they fix their problem by re-entering the order and getting the phone here immediately. Oh they cannot do that, she says, because I do not qualify. And some crap about how my current phone was insured. What that had to do with anything I have no idea, I still do not.

She could not tell me why a customer of 14 years gets jackshit for proper customer service. And kept putting me off when I asked to speak to her imaginary supervisor. She said there was no reason, as she already asked him what could be done for me and the answer was nothing. I was not buying that crap--for God's sake, there is someone up in the building who had the authority to get my phone to me with the original deal we had made. She said not.

Finally she gave in and the supervisor got on the phone with me and said stupid things, including "listen to me ma'am, let me talk." He had all his facts wrong, kept repeating what I had already been told, much of which was based on bad info. For example, he said my current phone was out of warranty as there is only a year warranty on them, unless you have insurance, which extends it a year. Bottom line, I am screwed. What? Two points wrong there--I have had this phone for 3 months, since the first one disappeared after 8 months. Forget the fact that the old phone has nothing to do with me ordering a new upgraded phone. He did not get it--and kept telling me that I upgraded last on December 27, 2007 and thus my year warranty was out. Hello, it was December 9 or 10, so even his stupid logic did not apply as a year was not up. This was the sort of stuff he did not want to hear.

He told me a lot that they could not do anything about my misfortune. REALLY, says me. I bet, says me. Fix it, says me. No they cannot do that, I am welcome to pay full retail price of $549 to get the phone. I can guaran-damn-tee you that if I did such a fool thing, it would be at another company.

Well guess what happened? He was all of a sudden struck with the ability to give me the damn phone at the same price I had agreed to before. For real. After an hour of telling me they could do no such thing, lo and behold, he could. Funny how that works.

But now it was backordered even more, until December 17. That put me in a bind for the trip to Ft Worth as I could not use my other phone to look up numbers etc. Or use it for an alarm clock.

Anyway, it arrived yesterday,

And now we have a real problem. I am far too stupid to work it.

Ha! Love the last line.

I had it out with Tmobile once. The CSR when we bought new phones didn't tell us about charges we would incur, and so I got this humongous bill. After they refused to drop the charges, or at least cut them down, I told them I would rather pay the fee to break my contract than to pay what they were asking. That did the trick.

The good news is that I just got a free companion flight from them because I've been a customer with them since the dark ages. Yay me!

lol, don't feel too bad. My dad got a BB Storm the day after they were released and he STILL is figuring it out. And this is a man who can operate ANY machine given him. But, he really likes it, besides the needing a degree to use it. lol. Yeah, phone companies are know-it-all-JERKS. I am glad you got your deal. I hate customer service reps, for the most part. Very few understand the concept of "customer SERVICE".

Oh boy, My Honey could tell you some tails of fighting with the Verizon "customer service" people. Threatening to quit them ALWAYS got results.

The best fight was when he switched all of our phones over to a business account and then was getting double billed because they could not get THEIR computer to recognize the change. One girl had the ultimate blonde moment and told him if he wanted to keep our phones active he would have to pay BOTH accounts until they could get it straightened out, if they could.
When he informed her that it was illegal to charge him twice for the same number and he would have his attorney contact her supervisor, she pulled her head out of her butt and got the problem resolved. I have no idea whether it is actually illegal to charge twice for one number, but she was so dumb she fell for it-LOL.

I am an AT&T customer, and let me tell you, I have really dealt with nice people there. Maybe I'm lucky. I feel like they are my buddies by the time I'm done with them! I call tech support a lot. I have a Blackberry ("crackerry") curve. Great phone- not sure I'm ready for a touch screen yet! ;) I also have Clearwire wireless for my computer and those guys are equally great, give me all kinds of helpful computer advice!
Hang in there, you'll figure it out. Just read the booklet and then sit and play with it for hours.

Brown-eyed Cowgirls and my daughter in law should have gotten together in the "process of paying double" when changes are made.

Threats, zillion phone calls and the list goes on- - - it did get resolved but - - -

Do you think this is a NEW METHOD of "making money for the company"? Wearing people down till they say "forget it". and go away.

Cheat the people under the guise of RULES AND REGULATIONS.

Sign of the times! ! !

Enjoy and Merry Christmas. Carol

Two words that have been made into one word.
iPhone.

I'm sorry you had to fight with the kids at Verizon. You do know they're all kids don't you. The manager probably just put you on hold and called his mom and she told him he better give you the f'n phone at the agreed on price or he was grounded!

I have a couple of comments:
First, it amazes me that the cell phone companies cop such an attitude when it takes one call to cancel and change to another service with a better deal and keep your same damn number. I think they do it to F%$K with us...like you said, all of a sudden they COULD give you the deal.
Second, do we have good plans for the dive trip -- I'm so excited, though am still on the hunt for a dive buddy (otherwise we are going to be a dive TRIO).
Third, enjoy the BB, I'm jealous you have the Storm and I will probably blow up your BBM with drunken messages, so get ready and put the alert for that on silent or vibrate (ha!)
Forth, I am having a HUGE bday shindig for myself tomorrow at Bonnie's and I so wish you and BS could be there to celebrate with my fool-ass.
That's all! :)
