Last pretty day

I think we have had it already---this was this week, when I was collecting horses for the farrier. It was still more than 70 degrees, but the trees are showing signs that it is fall, and the pasture in this field has browned up--although oddly, it is still quite green in others.
Hotrod is such a pretty girl, bigger than most of my other mares. I measured her right at 15 hands when I had her in the other nite.
She and Melody are partners in crime---they pal around together.
This is Mel pretending she is posing for a poster, I think.
She put on a decent show loping around for me to take pics of her with the pretty trees in the background. She and Hotrod are both due to foal in March--this year, she was 12-14 days early so I will be on top of things with her much earlier this year. She normally is pretty predictable on foaling.
She still gets around pretty well, even with that belly getting in her way.
These are yearlings running away from the scene of the crime on that same day. Madison took her first pitch off an equine---but it was Marvin the donkey so she did not fall far. Knocked the wind out of her as it is prone to do, but she is tough and took enough Aleve that she was not even sore the next day. This photo was taken just after the incident, and you will notice that Marvin is in the lead of the exodus to get away from us.

Hi, thanks for stopping by! Beautiful horses, I'm jealous. Hope to see you back soon. I'm still working on a weekly meal thing, but I do have a few recipes posted if that helps!

Beautiful---and on my trip up to Paducah, through the back country roads, it was my turn to pretend I was in Door County Wisc or maybe Vermont, NH or Maine.

Never been to either place-=----except in dreams.

Beautiful---

Love your blog title! AND your horses. How do you have time for all that and a blog, too??
We've had a gorgeous fall out here in You-tah, too. The leaves turned but hung on for a long time. Wasn't so pretty when the white stuff came down but...
Thanks for the visit and the chance to discover your blog!
