I did it! I lit the pilot light and did not blow the house up despite the fact that I left on the water heater gas line all day because it never occurred to me to turn it off.
It is on, so there will shortly be hot water for Paige! The rest of the world will be as grateful as me, as I have not had a shower since yesterday morning.
And turns out that I do not have larger furnace problems as I suspected--when I left this morning after flashing the propane company, I could hear the furnace fan running but not feel any heat coming out of the vents. I was sure something else was wrong--but not really, all is well. It is 62 degrees in here, which is a little too warm for me, but I am spoiling myself!
I would very much like a cold beer, now that I would not be shivering holding it. However, we do not have any and it is 23 degrees outside, so I do not think it is worth it to go get some. Because clearly Karma is looking out for me, there is about a glass and a half worth left of some champagne in the fridge. Betcha cannot guess what I am doing right now? Sipping on the bubbly.
That is right. Sipping the bubbly for no good reason, wearing my polka dot socks and house shoes.

Congrats on not blowing up the neighborhood!
Glad to see you did not blow up. I think 23 degrees is a bit too cold to go beer shopping too. Pick some up tomorrow on your way home.
Pilot lights scare me!! You are brave.
Ah! Life is good when one is warm and toasty!
Enjoy the "indoor hot weather"

There is always a good reason to sip on the bubbly - because it is there! It was 22 here this morning. I will be staying in.
Polka dot socks and champagne sound like heaven....
Congrats on not blowing up. (That sounded strange)
Glad to hear that you didn't blow yourself to smitherines!!
Mmmm. I'd like a cold beer too!
You are brave. I don't think I could light it!
Thanks for sharing in my SITS day with me!
I've always told you that you could do anything you set your mind to. However, I'm glad I didn't know you were lighting the pilot light.
Congrats on yet another accomplishment.
Billy's case makes me sad, too, but he's lucky to have you.
Here's hoping the Chinese delivery man doesn't wander up the front pathway this evening cause I'm assuming the polka dot socks and house shoes are ALL your wearing (lmao).
hahaha! funny! i am so glad you did not burn the house down either!
Champagne, a bathrobe and slippers. The PERFECT combo.
I would just like to share with you that shortly after reading your last post my heat broke as well. Coincidence?
