Somehow, I seemed to have forgotten what it is about Foxy that makes me try so hard to make things right with her. She struggles with her weight now, when her nickname used to be Short N Fat. I have not ridden her in a few years, as she used to always be in foal to some big time horse like Haidas Little Pep, or High Brow Hickory, or Rum Squall, and I was afraid to jeopardize them---and none of them resulted in a live foal for me until the fourth year.
Today, I saw her join in the games with the other mares and Madison, and the real Foxy all came back to me, every little bit of it. Every first step of a trot or lope feels like a buck--and sometimes it is!--but she is a fun ride. Barry hates riding her, but I have always liked her for some reason.
I am going to confirm she is open and start riding her again---she was the first real cutting horse I ever rode, and it took my breath away. Why not go back to that for a while?
