Hawkeye comes home

We are back from vacation and as usual, had to hit the ground running with things to tend to once we have arrived. Thus the delay in getting vacation stories and photos up.

Last nite, the number one goal was to pick up Hawk from the Secret Weapon. I cannot wait to ride him, which I will probably do tonight if I can get to it before the temp drops to 23 degrees as it is threatening to do.

He has grown a lot, I think. I am going to measure him tonight--I bet he is at least 14/2" at the butt, but less than that at the wither--for the first time in his life, he is butt high. and it is a huge butt at that--now we know what he got from his mother!

He is very light in the mouth, and definitely has all the parts a young fella needs to make a good horse. The Weapon says he is contrary sometimes, and will bull up if he does not want to do something. I anticipate that I will not have that same issue with him since I will never in my life have the ability to demand as much from a horse as the Weapon can.

His best skill so far is his stop. He really buries his butt in the ground. That is interesting as that was his sister's (Genuine Appeal) best thing as well. She also would get mad and sull up when she did not want to do something, and ultimately came out of it to be perfectly willing.

I hope to get decent pictures this weekend in the daylight, but this will have to suffice for now.
