While we are on the topic of late, tiny babies

Ding is not my only baby that was born very late in the season, and tiny upon her arrival. Midget was the 2005 version of her, and I just recently brought her up from the back pasture to start treating her like a yearling....pour the feed to her, etc. She is losing her crazy pot belly and is doing well on the new program.

She had her feet done tonight, so we took some pics and measured her. You could have knocked me over when the measuring stick said she was 13'2" at the withers and 13'3" at the hip! That is a good three to four inches taller than I would have guessed, as she is even smaller than the yearling geldings by a good amount

According to the tape, she weighs 646 pounds. Looking at this photo, I can finally see that something nice may come out of her---if she keeps growing ( and she should, as she just hit two months ago, unlike the ones we are riding which were born in March and April, 2005), and fills out, I think that her neck in front of her withers may fill in and look nicer.

The plan for her is to send her to Bree, to give her a project. She will be little enough to ride her, and Bree is a tough little kid. She has someone lined up to help her, and it should be fun for all of us!

Looks like a nice girl. And can see the promise in her like all the rest.
