Unfortunate confirmation and MEG

And YES, I mean conFIRMation, not conFORMation. Unfortunately.

Dr M was here to weigh in on Squeak's eyes. He agreed that it is clearly Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU aka Moon Blindness). How bout an "oh shit" to that? She has lots of nice eye goos to take 2 and 3 times per day now. He did not think she was hurting very badly now, so cut her off the banamine, which is a relief. It sure works, but I would rather not need it. Her right eye is worse than her left, which is not terribly bad at all, so he expects good things from the treatment. He is always right, so I am going with that belief.
While he was here, he also did some teeth. Squeak did not need it and neither did Foxy, which kind of surprised me. I was kind of hoping that her teeth, an easy fix, were part of her weight issue, but I guess not.

Slygirl had her teeth done, and one wolf tooth removed. Radar had far worse teeth, odd since he is a year younger than her, and also had two wolf teeth removed. I think this is Slygirl, in a fairly undistinguished position. Finding the teeth in this condition makes it even more remarkable that they have been so good for us, and further explains why Radar went a little berserk when I changed headstalls on him and the position of the bit was a bit off---no wonder! Fuzzy and Lucky were equally disastrous, so there is some major hope that her weight issues will get easier to handle as well

There must be something wrong with me, as I love to see my horses all drugged up and loopy. Especially horses that make me crazy for some reason- "TAKE THAT, I say

This bring me to the cool part of this post. Now that it is trademarked and in production, I can finally show pics of MEG.
That stands for Miles Equine Gizmo. There is no fair way to describe this thing, really--it is a stocks sort of affair , on wheels, that attaches to the truck like a bumper pull trailer. That totally simplifies it though. It has everything on board you can imagine...it has hydraulics and air compressors, and it is absolutely amazing.
You walk the horse in it from the rear, like you would stocks. The front gate shuts, and the rear gate moves by remote control to hold the horse in a small area fit to his size. There is this handy dandy thing you can nuse up front to do teeth--see how it holds the horse's head? This too is adjusted by remote control to be at the right level for each horse. You can use it for virtually every single thing you could ever need to do to a horse, with the exception of an actual motion test for a lameness exam. These photos do you show the whole thing, but give you a partial idea of what it looks like

It not only makes things safer for both the vet and the handler, as you are not having to handle the horse so much, it makes everything more productive because you do not need both of you to do anything---while he is floating one, I can be getting the next one lined up and ready to roll. You can also do a better job of everything you do, especially floating teeth, because you do not need to spend time looking for th horse to jump on top of you, or waste muscle energy controlling the house (because lets face it, many horses have no manners) because MEG does it for you. In the case of an injury, the horse is safely confined so that no one is likely to get hurt when the horse does something unpredictable. I think this thing is genius. It is safe, it saves time, and has so many uses, it is going to make him famous I am sure of it. Every equine vet needs this thing, and when they see it, they will have to wonder why they never thought of it and how they ever lived without it.

Now THAT is COOL! He's gonna get richer selling those things! How's he doing btw? Isn't he the one that had cancer? I love the MEG. That's awesome. My vet needs one of them thar thingies. Then I don't have to ask, And How much does a horses head weigh? LOL

No that is my other vet Kevin, who is doing really well with the cancer. I think his radiation is over too, which is even better.

EVERY vet needs one of these. The time we save on me alone is amazing, and with my life, time is money! Imagine how much it helps him

That MEG thing is totally kewl! I agree, every vet should have one! Will save everyone a lot of time, not to mention how much safer it is for everyone involved, but especially the horse...

Why can't I think up stuff like that and grow rich from it?

Hell who knows how she did it. I wonder if it was something brewing long before I got her....
