Bad news

Oh my gracious! I just got the rundown about the local sorting that was held yesterday (and the first one I have not worked in years, thank you Jesus, as I have had my fill of these SOBs).

But I did miss some big action. The Secret Weapon's wife got kicked by a horse tied to the trailer--a big ol roan mare they really like. The wife came round the corner of the trailer, put her hand on the mare's butt, and startled her awake from her nap. The mare kicked her right in the front pocket. She had to have surgery last nite to remove a bone chip.

The Weapon just told me that fortunately it was a bone that was not really necessary, and she was so close to the mare that she was not hurt nearly as badly as she could have been--another step back and it would have shattered her hip.

Wow--what a wake up call, that anything can happen with any horse, any where, any time, to any one of us- and your life can change in a blink. I have been kicked lots of times, I am sure all of us have- and never really realized how lucky I was to just get a bruise or a cut from it.
