Scenes from TWH Celebration

Celebration was fun as usual, but man was it hot!

First, the important news. Julie and Felix did great. She is in the middle of the above photo. He looked amazing, like a seasoned veteran, and so did she. She showed him in the 2 year old stallion class. Evidently, in TWH, a horse can be born in October of one year and not be considered a year old for 14 more months, so Felix (who was born in May 2005) was competing against horses that were up to six months older than him. He was still gorgeous and classy, and I was so proud of them. I never saw it, but Julie said he was gawking at the crowds and the lights like it was his first day to town. He will do nothing but get better I am sure. They show again this Friday nite in the Championship Class.

Felix is alreedy over 16 hands at 27 months, and in his shoes and pads, well over 17 hands tall. He is a beast, but still very babylike in his facial expressions. I did not expect to like him as much as I did, but he is just a doll.

We went to Waterfall Farms, where Felix's dad, The Specialist, lives. It is fascinating to see how differently they lay out their facilities than we do. They stand several stallions in addition to the Specialist, including Jose Jose, the highest paid TWH at $5K a stud fee. They also have JFK, who even I have heard of, and got to pet on while he was having a shower.

I have lots of stories to share, but I wanted to get these pics up right away before Julie gets back to North Carolina tomorrow morning.

Man, you can certainly feel his presence! He looks like a HUGE boy - must be weird for you seeing a horse that big - ha, ha!

Welcome Back from what seems to have been a good trip among BEAUTIFUL horses.

I enjoy your stories and pictures so much as well as my "education" on horses. No tests please!

Yes I imagine it was hot hot hot, but there is cool weather coming. Maybe your pal up north will send us some along with some rain! ! 1

If it was that easy, I would have talked her out of some of that rain already.

The weather has broken here finally as well, we are to have a high of 94 today.
