This is amazing to me, I cannot even tell you how much he weighs. Every bit of 40 pounds, I am sure, and now he is starting to turn orange instead of green. I am thinking he may be one of those fancy pumpkins, with the funny skin....but who knows at this point. I still cannot figure out what happens to the other baby pumpkins...some will start to grow but peter out at less than fist size. It is kind of sad....they are not starting as often as they were even though there are a lot of blooms on the vine. Maybe the word is spreading that it is not safe to be a pumpkin around Hannibal.
There is probably something I am supposed to be doing for him, but heck if I know what it is!
This is also a new trick I learned with my camera--a girl from one of my groups explained it to me. Thanks Bellia! Then of course, the memory card in my camera crapped out, so I had to go to the dreaded WalMart to get a new one. No wonder I want to go to bed. Anyway, isnt it cool?

I like the name Hannibal - Is the "food" being transferred to him thus the new blooms dying? We're going to start calling you Mr Green Jeans! Very cool.
Hell if I know what is going on. There are more blooms than every, but no punkin buds below them. Now there is not even a sign of the previous little punkins.....doo do doo do, it is a mystery!
On fruit trees I know that you pick off some of the blooms and it helps the "other" fruit grow larger. Maybe your plant has so many blooms that it is spreading out it's energy too many places and therefore the distant blooms aren't getting the energy to grow...or maybe the "big boy" is consuming the energy and using it all up.
You is very welcome!
The plant is trying to protect the one strong fruit. lol. Veggie.. so you will probably not get any others now. Sorry.
BTW love the picture;)
