There is nothing wrong with him.
Dr. Miles came up today, mostly I suspect to shut up my whining about this horse, confirmed that it is not pigeon fever, it is not a fracture or nerve damage, and he will be fine.
He obviously has had a puncture of some sort that caused all this trouble-- the swelling caused him to not use his left foreleg, so the atrophy set in.
The instructions for care: exercise to get the swelling down, continue the icthammol to get the goo out, cut the Bute since he does not hurt, and tell him to get over himself.
He thinks he will be well enough to go to training as planned in mid-August.
How 'bout them apples?

Thank God.
All that worry "almost" about nothing.
I am soo glad it isn't anything major, and that he will soon be feeling like his normal self.
And you know that is not like me to get worked up--I was not worked up when I thought he had been kicked. Hek, I left him out for a week and told him to tend to himself! I did not get worked up until I heard the word FRACTURE and the prognosis.
Then when everyone in the world swore it was pigeon fever, I really freaked- since it would be the first case around here!
Thank God we are back to the initial stage of not wigging. Once I get recovered from twice daily doctoring, I will really relax
Vets like Dr. Miles are invalueable. I am very lucky to have excellents vets here to work with too.
It is a good way of being spoiled isnt it, Melissa?
You know I will not move because I can't bare to loose my vets or farrier. They are all awesome and from what people say it seems to a rare thing.
