Happy things- day 2

This is NOT a happy thing. This is Twist last Wednesday, a full day after I found him locked in the stall. This does not in any way show how horrid he looked when I found him, but you can see a little too much of his hips, a little where his tailbone is protruding, and that his top line looks like hell. You can see a shadow of rib but that did not bother me that much, considering that most of it appeared to be water. I swear he looked far worse the night before. His flanks and thighs were weak.
This is him tonight. All better! I took this pic when it was almost dark, and he just happened to be in my line of sight, so clearly it is not good--but you can see how much improve he is. No protruding hip bones, his top line looks better--and even his flanks are filled in.

That is a huge relief. After taking this pic, I went in to feed him and saw that one of these bad boys--my guess is Sly--had opened his gate and helped himself to all the food in the building. There should have been only 20-30 pounds thank God, and I hope they at least shared it. Typical of a day in my life--I get over one concern and get hit with another one.

I am not terribly worried though, they probably shared some, and they both seem to feel good, so I will just continue to watch him.

And since the Twister pics did not show the difference in him as much as I would like, I am also including another pic of something I like. Dorsal stripes. I particularly like this big honker that Voodoo has.

Well he did--you could see every rib and his spine sticking up, plus his tailbone.

All better now

I love dorsal stripes too!

And shoulder barring, and zebra-striping (talking duns here, obviously), and streaked of silver in dark manes.

Geez Kids do the darnest things----even four-legged ones.

As with kids---hope they didn't really hurt themselves too much.

Enjoy Carol

I think this Happy Things idea is great. We all need to remember the good stuff.
That is a nice Dorsal stripe on VooDoo.

That's amazing that he was so deteriorated!! Glad you found him when you did!! OH doesn't that just tick you off when somehow the feed gets eaten!! Last summer we had a herd of stray cattle that got into our barn and helped themselves to LOTS of hay!!
