And this time it was not me, although for a while there, I thought it might be.
Of all the things that I needed to break soon, I finally got one. No it was not Barry's job, which was the one I was praying for. We still do not know what is going on with that.
But Foxy finally foaled. I made her do it. I could not stand it any more. So I tried my fool-proof trick for making horses foal. I left her out in the rainAnd voila! This is what I found on my way to work this morning. And I was so worried about not getting my new shirt dirty, that I failed to notice baby smooge on my jeans until after I was already at work. Typical. This is why it is so good that I mostly sit in an office myself and read and write and occasionally take an advice call from some panicked attorney, instead of actually dealing with the public on a regular basis. No one can see the smutz if I am in there by myself.
I do not think he has a white spot on him anywhereLanky little red dun colt.
These pics were taken after work. He very much wanted Madison's hand to work like mama does, but he was sorely disappointed. He gnawed and gnawed on her.
Right now, his head is not very pretty, so much so that it is noticeable. But I have faith it will get better--it is still very cucumber-looking like they tend to be when they are first born.
He was fascinated by my mom, he kept walking up to her and then scaring himself and scampering off. That is another thing that is odd about babies--I swear they cannot see very well at first. That causes them to get into funny situations, and also makes it hard to get them in and out of stalls or other gates---they can never find the dang door. Even if they just went through it.
Now see here, his head looks really crazy--like there is a foot between his eyes and his ears. That will looks better soon. I hope. I am sure it will
This is one of his first steps out of a walk--bounce bounce bounce buck
Then slam on the brakes and see what that is like. He was quite pleased with himself at this point...he almost looks bored, doesn't he?
What I do not understand about babies is why they will not stay where I tell them to stay so I can take pictures. There is not much less attractive than a baby pic with a manure pile in the background. But it was the only one of him going this direction and I knew I would share the next pic where the big secret would get out--we have a manure pile. A big one. All horse people do. Ours just gets in the way of good pics
But since I was going to show this pic anyway, what the hell. This was taken this morning just after I discovered him and attempted to move him and mama into a nice warm stall. Rock kept calling him from two fences away, and he kept running back to her. On the way out, he tackled the manure pile. I thought I got a shot of him climbing up it, but I guess this is as close as I got---it could have been better, but since I was juggling mama and my camera in the rain, I will have to be satisfied with this one. Also this pic shows how his head has changed from this morning to this evening--now let's just hope it keeps up until it gets cute!
As usual, I have no idea what his name will be---
In other news, I decided to trust that Barry's work is going to continue, if this contract that was supposed to be signed by now actually gets signed---and since today was the deadline to confirm our vacation, I did it. So that gives us something to look forward to- I hope I have not done wrong and that we can enjoy ourselves without worrying our way through it

SO happy to see another one of your adorable babies! I hope the job thing works out. Waiting is so stressful. The vacation will do you good, regardless!!
Let's hope the birth of "Leggs" is the beginning of many things to "Break".
Enjoy Carol
I LOOOOVE HIM! I don't care about his head. He might be my favorite.
Oh he's adorable! Love the strip down his back. And I was too busy looking at the baby to see the manure:)
he is super duper cute ! No worries abouut the sh88 pile ! Doesnt everyone have one? Metaphorically speaking of course?
I love his light coloring. I like buttercup for a name. But I'm not good at names.
I think his head is just precious!
Man! he looks like he is going (is) to be a big boy! seems like you havnt gotten much chrome at all this year LOL
I know for a fact that I am not a horse person, but I don't see anything wrong with that sweet baby's face, in either picture. Aren't horses like humans, all babies are beautiful? Hope you have enough help that you will be able to enjoy your vacation.
Next year, I'd seriously like to speak with you about training in advance to know enough to come out and help you while you go on vacation. Seriously, you could sell this to city slickers like me to take care of your animals while you go away. And they would pay you for their "vacation". It's a great idea, you should think about it!
Oh I am so glad you finally had another!!! My internet was down yesterday so I'm just seeing this. I'm feeling your pain on the name thing, you know we are sitting at almost 2 weeks and still no name LOL!! And I'm inclined to agree with you about their vision, I don't think they see well at first either!! I don't see a problem with his head!! Your funny!! Can't wait for the next one...Keep up with the pictures!!
