Due to Cash's abcess--which we now have determined was from a puncture wound--she and baby China have been stalled with NO turnout since last Saturday nite. It is impossible to keep the foot soaking or wrapped with iccthammol on it, if the horse is turned out, especially in this mud. So they have been in.
Today, we decided to take the girls out and let Cash graze in hand while I took some shots of China. She sure gave me a lot to work with! First, she ran like a freight train for ten minutes before we could even get her through a 12-foot gate, which was so fun to watch. I did not think to take any pics of that though, as I was trying to herd her into the hay field where she was supposed to go.
This was when we first got settled there--she had to get her breath back.
Isn't she something? Look at that hiney!
Here she was getting ready to start her engines.
and she was off!
She added in a double barrel here--with a fart for good measure.
By the time I got this shot, she was going so fast, I missed the focus or had not gotten my shutter adjusted to catch up with her.
I think she was powering down by this point.
There is nothing wrong with that chest either is there? What is she, three weeks old?
She looks like such a girl to me, but not as delicate as she first was. I think I am sticking with China as her name, since I have not been struck by anything else that has trumped it.
Who says cutting ability is not highly heritable? Actually, all babies move like this I think, and it takes a whole lot more than amazing body control to make a cutter.
This was her attempt to not have to go back to her stall, so Cash could have her hoof diapered. It was a shame to have to do it, I hate for babies to live in a stall. It helps their physical and mental health so much to be outside. Hopefully, it will not be long before the abcess is healed--but from the looks of the wound, I do not have high hopes that it will be any time this week. Hopefully, we can get a dry day that Madison and I can take them out to let baby girl play, as Barry will be gone all week.
We had a busy busy day, chock full of horse stuff and farm work. Actually the whole weekend was that way. I will catch you all up on it tomorrow nite, God willing that my training session with the Beast goes well and I still have the strength in my fingers to type it all out. I have a jillion pics to edit, and since a new monsoon is going to start tonight, they will give me something to post later in the week.
Happy Easter everyone!

Happy Easter to you!
The pics are so cute! Isn't that like every kid whose been couped up too long, lol! We let BG and LM out to run around today after some yucky weather and I think they had the same reaction.
her chest was what I noticed in that first photo. Nice nice baby, there.
And when she gets herself all bunched up like the photo "double barreled", you can really see the definition in her hindquarters.
Ah! Ha! Cash and China "romp" in the new grass.
Yeah! and besides it was Easter sunday and all kids should play.
Enjoy Carol
Awesome shots! I think China is a perfect name.
Completely awesome pics, as usual!!
Happy belated Easter, what an absolute beauty she is!
Those are INCREDIBLE!!

Baby got back...and front. She is one fine horse.
China is a doll!
Look at those muscles and then just imagine how much she'll have with regular exercise!!
She looks great!
I can hardly wait for my mare to foal now!!! And I've got 2 more months!
Well... don't forget about this Chyna:
