Scenes from the Shawnee

On the left is baby Radar scrambling up a cliff- and for once, I was behind him with the camera so that my photo does not look like he is even littler than he really is like it does when I am looking down on him.

This pic of the ponies in the water cracks me up. The little bay pony was not that long ago, running at large as a stallion. Linda saved him, as she is wont to do, and he ended up in the home of their friend the vet. He is now gelded and turning into quite the little tropper, and may be the cutest pony I have seen in a long time. This photo of Barry with the bay horse Tumbleweed is kind of a joke. You can kind of see Head standing behind the horse's shoulder--he looks like Wilson from the Tim the Tool Man show. I was trying to show just how humongous Tumbleweed is. He just got under saddle this year, and is doing pretty good. He has a bit of a hang up about horses that are not his color though.

This pic of Emily falling into the water off her little pony kills me---she sat there and laughed. That pony is 23 years old and is the jumpingest thing I have ever seen in that size. Emily spent all day trying to find things to jump, and Ginger went right along with her. They are a great pair!
Finally, we have some real scenery from the Forest itself---the water picture is normally a huge waterfall and a big pond. Because of the drought, there was no waterfall at all and the pond was shrunk up to a fraction of its size. The archway pic was taken becasue we cannot imagine how many times we have ridden past this same spot and never noticed it. It is no small thing either. Just goes to show how things change in nature.
